Hello all,
As a former JET (Japan Exchange & Teaching) Programme participant, I thought I'd share with some of the more local goings on. Should any of you be in Toronto on April 1 - check out the following.
As for the rest of you looking for your daily dose of Japan - It's A Wonderful Rife - I posted not one, not TWO, not THREE, but FOUR mini blogs yesterday with some astounding footage you can all take a look at now. Numbers 2, 3 and 4 were all posted during the day (Eastern Standard time - in Toronto, Canada).
I'll have something new for you all tomorrow. Meanwhile, read the JETAA (Almuni Association) message:
Asthe world has watched the unfolding devastation caused by the March 11earthquake and tsunami in Japan, JETAA members have been especiallyaffected. Many of us have friends or even family in the hardest hitareas, and some have spent days trying to contact people amidunreliable phone networks and power blackouts.
Thereare many positive stories: people connecting with loved ones or ofdramatic rescues in the news; but there is also destruction, fear andloss of life. Seeing this happen to a country we lived in, and to thepeople we came to know and love has been hard, when most of us are faraway and seemingly unable to help.
Butwe are not helpless. We can lend our support in many ways. That is whyon April 1, JETAA Toronto will host a special fundraising event insupport of the rescue, relief and rebuilding efforts so needed in Japan.
Theevent will take place at the Hard Rock Café. There will be live musicand a silent auction with trips to New York, CN Tower tours and otherprizes with all proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross's efforts inJapan. For more on our fundraising efforts please see this article.
We urge you to come out, gather your friends and family and support this important event.
Check out our facebook event page or contact japanrelief@jetaatoronto.com for more information.
